The Final Gambit is the final installment of the Inheritance Games series. And Jennifer doesn’t disappoint. In this book, Avery’s birthday is coming up and with it her ability to have the Hawthorne Fortune. Someone shows up just before Avery’s 18th birthday that can add a kink in the inheritance if what she says is true. Avery’s best friend Max is with her a lot before she goes back to school. The Hawthorne boys and Avery are part of another mystery they have to unravel before Avery can inherit.
I really enjoyed how the couples meshed during this story. I always like the puzzles, but when she took a break from the puzzles the romance was fun. Xander and Max (a little), Jameson and Avery as well as Nash and Libby. And the deep mystery through it all. The boys learned more about their father’s as well as why their mom was with each of the men. Which was disheartening for all the boys involved.

Something frustrating with this book was the “flashbacks’” of Grayson and Avery. It didn’t make any sense with the story. I don’t feel as though it added much to the story. It wasn’t needed. Or if she was going to add it, help it along earlier in the story. I struggled with the story when it showed up. I wanted to see a little more of the spark between Xander and Max, but I still enjoyed it. All told, this was another great book in the Inheritance Games series.
Until Next Time Friends,
Ashleigh
