The Ballad of Never After starts where Once Upon a Broken Heart. Evangeline Fox is waiting for Apollo to wake and see if he really likes her. She writes herself a letter reminding her that Jacks is really a trickster and he is really not her friend. As Apollo wakes up, more of the curse comes to light. And then on top of that, another curse shows up that is similar to the Fairytale Evangeline grew up hearing, The Archer and the Fox. Apollo is the Archer who hunts the Fox, who of course is Evangeline. If he catches her, he will kill her. So she is on the run again. Her run puts her in more proximity to Jacks

, which is always rough for her. She is drawn to him. As they run, the lines of their relationship and her relationship with Apollo become more blurred and confusing.
Stephanie Garber is a wonderful author. I could not put the book down. I can’t remember how fast I read it, but it was fast. I loved it. The push and pull between Jacks and Evangeline is captivating. I began to root for them. They visited so many different places and people who came out of the woodwork who knew Jacks and ended up helping Evangeline. Towards the end of the book, she proved that people really aren’t what they seem.
When I finished, I grabbed my phone and through tears I looked for the next one, not realizing that it wasn’t out yet. I will be preordering it as soon as possible!
